CEI Africa is pleased to announce the launch of its Green Mini‑Grid (GMG) Environmental & Social (E&S) Regulatory Mapping Platform, a new digital resource designed to support mini‑grid developers operating across sub‑Saharan Africa.
The platform responds to a critical challenge facing the sector: navigating complex and often opaque E&S regulatory frameworks when developing or expanding mini‑grid projects. Commissioned by CEI Africa and developed in partnership with EED Advisory, with support from the Africa Mini‑Grids Developers Association (AMDA), the platform consolidates regulatory intelligence from 21 countries into a single, accessible tool.
Developed through close engagement with national authorities, developers, financiers, and practitioners, the platform maps regulatory procedures, timelines, institutional roles, and common implementation bottlenecks encountered in practice. It brings this intelligence together through six country‑specific E&S toolkits and an interactive dashboard, enabling users to explore requirements, compare jurisdictions, and plan projects with greater certainty.
The GMG E&S Regulatory Mapping Platform is now available online and can be accessed directly here. By improving transparency and predictability around E&S compliance, the platform aims to support faster, more informed, and more compliant mini‑grid deployment across sub‑Saharan Africa.
