CEI Africa’s Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) is kicking off the year with exciting initiatives to help our investees and grantees scale sustainably. We are proud to announce the official launch of two new strategic pillars: ESG and PUE Market Insights.
These initiatives are designed to provide our portfolio companies with the data-driven insights and governance frameworks needed to lead the off-grid energy sector.
Pillar 1: ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)
In addition to the existing E&S mapping project, CEI Africa will also provide additional support to specific companies through the ESG Pillar. This will help companies build resilience by integrating high-level responsibility into their daily operations.
- Risk Mitigation: Establishing robust systems to monitor E&S risks and reduce grievances.
- Tailored Frameworks: Creating ESG structures that meet both international standards and CEI Africa funding criteria.
- Compliance & Support: Prioritizing high-risk companies with tailored assistance to meet E&S Action Plans (ESAPs).
- Sustainable Independence: Equipping companies with the tools to manage their ESG practices independently for the long-term.
Pillar 2: PUE Market Insights
This pillar focuses on Productive Use of Energy (PUE), maximizing the impact of energy access by powering local businesses and income-generating activities.
- Market Readiness: Conducting studies to assess the business potential of PUE enterprises that improve the financial viability of Mini-grids and Off-Grid Enterprises.
- Barrier Analysis: Investigating local economic, cultural, and regulatory factors that influence technology adoption.
- Scalable Models: Proposing context-specific business models that balance financial sustainability with community impact.
- Operational Training: Empowering companies with the practical skills needed to turn market research into actionable business growth.
By integrating these two pillars, CEI Africa is ensuring that the growth of the off-grid energy sector is as responsible as it is economically viable. If you would like to learn more about our pillars, please send us an email at info@cei-africa.com.
