Equatorial Power Uganda operates mini-grids across East Africa. On Lolwe Island (under the Engie Equatorial Joint Venture), the company is scaling up productive energy use by introducing e-boats, e-motorcycles, and a solar-powered bakery.
The project will support over 3,700 existing connections and directly benefit 15,000 people. In partnership with Energrow for credit and appliance financing, the model blends productive use, inclusive finance, and circular energy systems. The aim is to boost livelihoods and local economic activity without compromising sustainability.
