KUDURA Power East Africa, a mini-grid operator serving rural areas in Western and Northern Kenya, received support from CEI Africa under both its Smart Outcomes and Results-Based Financing components to scale clean energy and sustainable transport solutions.
Through the Smart Outcomes component, KUDURA is deploying 50 electric bikes and 3 e-tricycles across 18 mini-grid sites—10 existing and 8 new—along with charging infrastructure and battery swap stations. This initiative promotes clean mobility, enhances local enterprise development, and supports inclusive, low-carbon economic growth in off-grid communities.
Complementing this, the Results-Based Financing component supports the construction of two new green mini-grids in Turkana County, aimed at unlocking 5,600 electricity connections for households, businesses, and community services.
Together, these interventions are expected to benefit over 17,500 people, while displacing petrol and diesel usage with sustainable energy alternatives.
